The question nobody asks out loud
What if I mess up the impression?
You have never done this before. You are about to put a small foam block in your own ear and fill it with silicone, and somewhere in the back of your mind is the thought: what if I get it wrong and I have just wasted my money?
You haven’t. Tell us, and we send you another kit — free. No argument, no fee, no “you should have watched the video.”
It happens, and it happens to people who did nothing wrong. An impression can come out short, or with a void, or the block can shift. Our lab checks every impression the moment it lands — and if it isn’t good enough to build from, we don’t build from it. We would rather send you a second kit than hand-build a set around a bad mold and let you find out eight weeks later.
You cannot hurt yourself doing this. The oto-block stops the silicone at a safe depth — it physically cannot travel too far into your canal. The silicone is soft, it sets in about five minutes, and the whole impression lifts right back out. It takes 10–15 minutes, it’s easier with a helper, and there is a guided video in the box.
And if you would rather not do it yourself at all — you don’t have to. Get your impressions taken in person at any of our 50+ providers, or at an audiologist or hearing-aid centre. Send those instead.
